october you’re just teasing but thank you for those summer like breezes i like your style i love what I see it’s just a little while and then what’s to come will be
you blaze and shine with colors sublime it’s a bittersweet show but I don’t mind this vivid prelude to the winter snow
but until the chill descends on hoodies and we have to wear pajamas with footies i’ll sing with you let you color my world
you always fall with such grace and suddenly our crazy world is a beautiful place
i wonder where summer is going and why the hostas’ trumpets wither in the song of the morning gold the moisture saturated early september air will soon surrender to hoodie worthy chilly days
and hosta trumpets will disappear and silenced shrills that once inhabited golden shells gently rest bearing witness to the symphonies that played endlessly on measureless summer days
but now summer’s bags are packed the trees wait and will soon honor summer’s passage tossing golden and crimson leaves in a reluctant celebration to the closing of summer nights and songs and to welcome the crystal air of winter’s refining lament
remembering letting go surrendering finding slow winter’s cold a memory blooming color here comes summer seasons in my heart some things i can start again and some well they just are
moments in the sun will soon run away colors will fall winter will howl lonely branches will soon help me see
so i explore the seasons in my life some things must die some things bring so many whys
but with each blossom all this beauty wrapped up tightly waiting to spring i surrender let go and find some slow and sing
snowflakes
like little frozen stars
are dancing around
my backyard
barren branches shiver
beneath winter’s breath
there is a kind of death
that erases memories
of fireflies
and summer rain
but is’t okay
there are frozen stars
dancing around
my backyard
this winter day
cold and wind
sweep the messy fall away
cold stardust blankets the ground
and delicately paints the trees
and help me see
that all this loss
of green and flower
is the rhythm of you and me
for there is power
in resting
waiting
dying
to even beautiful things
that may shackle our souls
and find new life
beneath the barren
new love
beneath the bitterness
new warmth
beneath the cold
let’s dance
like little frozen stars
in my backyard
and remember
that what seems random
when we feel abandoned
when our hearts are unable to fathom
the singing of the birds
we wait
in the in between
and come to the Word
He speaks into our stillness
He speaks into our silence
while little frozen stars
dance in my backyard
Spring has found winter to be quite ornery and stubborn to get out of town, however, yesterday gave us some hope. Finally took out my motorcycle and headed to one of my favorite destinations: a sprawling wind farm about 45 minutes southwest of where we live. Enjoyed a great ride on a beautiful day.
