Living in the plains of the Midwest does have its benefits.  I do miss the Atlantic Ocean on the south shores of Long Island… the mountains of upstate New York…  but I have come to appreciate the many beautiful horizons of our town: Minooka.

So, apparently, this meteorological phenomena is called a ‘sun dog’. I… uh… didn’t know that. Taken just behind my home.

We are having a very cold and snowy winter in the Midwest, but my youngest son and I went out for a winter expedition after the snow storm, and, before the temperatures plummeted – it is now -15 Fahrenheit. It was absolutely beautiful.

Taken on my last bike trip to the Illinois River at the William G. Stratton State Park in Morris, IL. Captured with my iPhone and, after sharing it on my Facebook, I decided to post it here. Also, I have been under the weather lately and just don’t have the energy to work on a photo. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Taken at Dollinger Family Farm in Channahon, IL. Fall is not complete without a trip to Dollinger’s to pick out a pumpkin, walk in and out of cool small buildings, visit the petting zoo, and, caramel apples!

Our youngest son is a freshman in high school and participates in the marching band. High School football games in our small town are big events! Rivalries, pride, marching band, cheerleaders, poms, Arrowettes, popcorn, and, lots of cheering fans make for a fun community experience! Go Indians!
