the oculus 4

I wonder if this structure now qualifies as the “location where the most selfies are taken.” Half the fun of being here was watching all the photography going on!

the oculus 3

The Oculus leaves many impressions. I can’t get away from the idea of the skeletal remains of a giant, ancient creature that was uncovered in Lower Manhattan. I think I understand a little bit about how Pinocchio might have felt.

the oculus 2

The impact of space is interesting to me. The way boundaries, limitations, and, definition is brought to space results in an emotional, almost transcendent experience. Apparently, The Oculus has received mixed reviews, but there is no denying that it does have impact.

the oculus 1

Oculus: 1. an eye. 2. Architecture. a circular opening, especially one at the apex of a dome.
It is a stunning space. This is the first of a few images from my time in Lower Manhattan.

no birds were harmed

So, I post this with a bit of sadness. A few weeks ago I had a meeting with a peacock. You read that correctly: a peacock. The good news is that no birds were harmed while riding my Scout Sixty. The bad news is that my motorcycle and I had a close encounter with the road of the worst kind. We are both fine and, hopefully, repairs won’t take too long.

mono wind

Back to the wind farm, but this time in a monochrome mood.

shorelines

This is the first in a series of three pictures from a trip back to New York this past March. So, yes, we are back at my favorite place: the shores of Jones Beach on Long Island.
