stop wait listen faith

i don’t think
i would mind
getting lost beneath
a gold and yellow sky
watch the crimson
snow leaves
gently settle
at my feet
smell the pine soaked
breeze
be as still
as the trees
as they surrender
their beauty
and let go of their
color laden leaves
i lift up my eyes
i wonder if my
prayers can soar up high
to reach your ears
oh God
are you near
we’re really lost
have you given
thought
to our broken
hearts
we really
could use
a new start
i surrender
the beauty
i think i possess
let winter
come
and clean my soul
no more pretense
i’ll wait with the trees
in silence
and cold
welcome this season
of dying
less trying
of seeing
and being
i’m lifting my hands
God please
bring us your aid
don’t want to be afraid
as i walk
this painted path
there is beauty
when we fall
upon your Light
and stop
and wait
and listen
in faith

and stop
and wait
and listen
in faith

glimpses of fall part 2

Enjoyed time with my colleagues during our annual retreat in Baraboo, Wisconsin. These images were taken at Devil’s Lake State Park. Thanks for stopping by.

fall moments

Always enjoy an opportunity to return to Devil’s Lake State Park for our annual staff retreat.

the beginning and end

Began the day in Baraboo, Wisconsin taking a cold morning hike along Devil’s Lake. Ended the day back home. It was a good day.

fall is great

This was taken during our annual staff advance at Devil’s Lake, Wisconsin. We had a great two days of training, planning, and dreaming. I work with a fantastic team of friends who are also my colleagues. Late October in Wisconsin can be cold, rainy, and harsh, but this day was an absolute gift!

what are you lookin' at

A pair of… uhmmm… – they look like slender Wall-E’s to me – at Devil’s Lake, Wisconsin.

a determined tree

To me, this tree looks like it could just pick up those roots – a.k.a., tentacles; a.k.a., legs – and just go exploring.

Devil's Doorway

Since my last two posts had us visiting Devil’s Lake State Park in Wisconsin, thought we would explore a bit. The rock formation pictured here is known as Devil’s Doorway. The geological features of the park are really a delight and easy to enjoy: quartzite bluffs, hiking trails, rock climbing, forests, and, the  lake all make up for a beautiful setting to enjoy the outdoors. My goodness! I sound like a commercial for the Wisconsin Department of Tourism!
