look what the bean did

I wonder if Cloud Gate, a.k.a., The Bean, is the most photographed object in Chicago. I am pretty sure that you cannot exhaust the limitless possibilities this fascinating sculpture represents from a photographer’s perspective.

Well, actually, this is just a small portion of the Chicago skyline. This image was taken from the amazing Maggie Daley Park looking back towards Millennium Park. (Click here and here for a couple of my images of Maggie Daley Park.) You can see the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in the lower center portion of the image. I am a New Yorker at heart, but it is really hard to beat the majestyย of Chicago and, the beauty of the vastย green space and urban playground of Grant Park, Millennium Park and, Maggie Daley Park. Bravo Chicago!

While going through Chicago photos for my last couple of posts I ran across this one and thought I would share. The Bean is a fascinating piece of modern, urban art that is an inexhaustible photographic subject. It’s fun too!

The great WordPress mystery is solved at last! You can see in this image of the Jay Pritzger Pavilion in Millennium Park, Chicago, that my previous post was an image of the structure that floats above the lawn that provides a grid for the sound system. I have taken quite a few pictures here, but it is a modern, massive, wonder, so I find it hard to capture.

jay pritzker revisited

jay pritzker pavilion 3

Hope you are not getting too tired of all these Chicago images! This is the Jay Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park, Chicago. I have officially given this crazy pavilion the title of “the most difficult location/structure/….thing to photograph…. in the universe!”ย  I have a couple of other images of this pavilion here and here. The beautiful, asymmetrical design of the architecture, along with the network of tubes that are suspended above the grassy area to hold the speakers for the sound system, all create a “busy” location to try and photograph. Still, it is a beautiful pavilion, and serves as a centerpiece of the recreational and concert life of Chicago.

Taken moments before The Bean swallowed me whole. I had enough time to take this shot, grab the SD card and throw it to freedom. I then snapped my shutter three times while saying, “There’s no place like home, there’s no place like home.” That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

Not much of a challenge here, but I have to find some way to justify sharing all these picture of The Bean ๐Ÿ™‚ ย Just one more after this one…. I promise.
