guatemala part 1

Each late Spring, early Summer I say to myself: “Yay! Summer is coming. Looking forward to slowing down a bit.” Well, still looking forward to slowing down a bit! It has been just as busy as any other summer, but a wonderful summer as well. One of the ingredients that have made this summer wonderful is an unexpected missions trip to Guatemala.

So, this is the first in an as yet unknown number of posts on my Guatemala experiences. I am not a traveler, so I tip my lens cap to those travel bloggers out there. (For a fantastic travel blog check out https://julesvernex2.com)

These images were taken on the grounds of the home we stayed in. Our home was in San Lucas Sacatepequez, a beautiful town located about 7,000 ft above sea level. Stay tuned for the next episode featuring the reason for our trip to Guatemala. Thanks for stopping by.

spidey-webby things

Tried to take some images of what I will call “spider nets.” The are flat, and I see them on the grass and bushes. Just amazing! Thanks for dropping in!

abstract anyone?

Decided to capture some light that was dancing in front of me this afternoon. Major bonus points if you can figure out what I photographed. I’ll post the source of these images in a few days. Thanks for stopping by.

carousels can be a bit scary…

…don’t you think? Thanks for stopping by!

rest in you

sometimes i feel
like i don’t belong
i’m not a part
of the song
that everyone
seems to know
and i wonder
if i’ll ever know
how to sing again

you see i’m not quite sure
what’s deep inside
i’m not quite sure
that i’m all right
i’m not quite sure
if i
matter
did i ever
matter

hey world
i wonder
if it’s okay with you
to quietly say
i’m not okay
i’m sad
and
don’t
know
why
i’m mad
and even when i try
to find some rest
all i find
is just a mess
i’m just a mess

so i still will pray
peace be still
God please
invade my heart
and my will
and let me see
what you see
in me
and rest
i am a mess
but i’ll rest
in You

i’ll rest
in You

ride of spring

March is usually malcontent in the Midwest, which means a moody, sometimes malicious maze of temperatures and a minefield of uncertainty. So! I mounted my trusty motorcycle and meandered through a magnificent field of wind catchers marvelously moving their blades on this most beautiful of spring days. That is all.

what i saw at jones beach part 2

Another set of images from a long walk on a windy day at Jones Beach.

what i saw at jones beach

Grateful to be back in New York spending time with my elderly parents. Equally grateful to take long walks at Jones Beach. I love the winter shore.

a valentine’s life

My mom and dad have been married for 62 years. They both have their physical struggles and they take care of each other. My dad takes care of my mom’s arthritic feet every morning. I felt privileged to watch him carefully wash, dry and apply topical aids on her feet. They have lived a Valentine‘s life together, and not just a Valentine’s Day. I was also reminded of what Jesus taught us. Take a moment and read the gospel of John chapter 13 today. Thanks for stopping by.

galena time

Galena, Illinois was “born” in 1826. It is known as the town that time forgot. This beautiful town is filled with shops, candy, lots of chocolate, delicious coffee, great eateries and, apparently, ghosts! This is my bride, and we enjoyed celebrating 39 years together in Galena!
