the soybean fields

By this time of year the soybean fields are a beautiful green of such depth that they seem to be animated, especially when they are caressed by the winds and the green waves roll across the fields.

riding again

Here is a bit of a departure from all the recent black and white posts. Some of you may remember that I had a mishap with my motorcycle and a certain peacock earlier this summer. I am glad to say that the peacock was unharmed, the bike is repaired, and my scrapes healed up nicely, so, I am riding again!

no birds were harmed

So, I post this with a bit of sadness. A few weeks ago I had a meeting with a peacock. You read that correctly: a peacock. The good news is that no birds were harmed while riding my Scout Sixty. The bad news is that my motorcycle and I had a close encounter with the road of the worst kind. We are both fine and, hopefully, repairs won’t take too long.

mono wind

Back to the wind farm, but this time in a monochrome mood.

green and light

Not quite sure why this park in southern Illinois is name Giant City Park, but so glad to be able to take a hike in this beautiful setting that reminded me over and over again that winter is gone!

beginning

I started my bicycle ride later than I wanted to, but, it turned out okay. I was able to see the beginning of a beautiful day. We’ll get back to New York soon. (Click on the image for a larger view.)

twisted tree…perhaps

fossilized-xenomorphAn interestingly twisted tree at Starved Rock State Park. Or…a fossilized xenomorph.

fall falls

fall-is-till-great

Taken at Starved Rock State Park in Oglesby Illinois. The overwhelming geographical feature of the midwest plains is: flat! So, I never get tired of hiking the caverns, paths, and waterfalls of Starved Rock. Hope you can see it some day!

parade again

chris-parade

Thought I would pay a quick visit again to our annual Grundy County Corn Festival Parade before posting some more Fall pictures. This is my youngest son. We have enjoyed watching the hard work, teamwork, and fantastic performances of the high school band that he has been a part of for the past four years. Yup…I am kind of a proud papa. Thanks for stopping by.
