summer finally arrived

The farmers in our area have had a really tough time this spring/summer. We have received unprecedented amounts of rain over the past 4 months! They have not been able to plant, and the yield this year is going to be very light. Normally, these fields are filled with tall corn, and beautiful, deep green, soybean plants. Still, love the beauty of the Midwest, and love riding!

marseilles motorcycle 6

This is the 6th in a small series of images from a recent motorcycle ride to a favorite location, The Marseilles Mill Ruins, which, you can learn about by clicking on a link in my previous post.  These are pictures of one of the gates that controlled the flow of water along channels, called raceways, that were used to help create power and run the old paper mill.

and so Christmas day 2017 ends

Goodbye Christmas Day 2017. It was wonderful to be with family and be reminded of how precious it is to care and support each other. It brought joy to my heart to think about friends near and far and be reminded of how my life has been surrounded with so much love and encouragement.  God bless you. Thanks, Christmas Day 2017, for a wonderful day.

the soybean fields

By this time of year the soybean fields are a beautiful green of such depth that they seem to be animated, especially when they are caressed by the winds and the green waves roll across the fields.

no birds were harmed

So, I post this with a bit of sadness. A few weeks ago I had a meeting with a peacock. You read that correctly: a peacock. The good news is that no birds were harmed while riding my Scout Sixty. The bad news is that my motorcycle and I had a close encounter with the road of the worst kind. We are both fine and, hopefully, repairs won’t take too long.

beautiful winter

winter's arrival

And just like that…winter arrives. November has been an unusually warm month here in the mid-west, but winter made a beautiful, grand entrance today. This is the church where I serve as a pastor.

catching the wind 3

catching the wind 3

The third image in my “catching the wind” series. Not quite sure if a total of four images constitutes a series, but I will leave that for you to decide. Would love to climb inside one of these things some day….

catching the wind 2

catching the wind 2

The second image from a recent motorcycle ride to a wind farm not far from where we live. For some reason I am fascinated by these gigantic pinwheels and the “whoosh” sound that they make as those huge blades turn….. pretty cool! Two more will follow….in color.
