Devil’s Lake

Spent a few days hiking around Devil's Lake in Wisconsin with my oldest son back in April. There are some challenging paths you can hike on the bluffs that surround the lake that are basically made up of giant boulders. This was the first of what we hope will be an annual hiking adventure!

Blue Sunrise

Taken on one of my rides in the country. I was working on this image and just was not happy with any results. Finally changes the white balance and this is the result. Blue is my favorite color!
Taken during one of my early morning rides in the country. Blue is my favorite color! I have one more image to share from this ride taken moments after this one. Stay tuned.

end of day

In our little town it seems like we are surrounded by train tracks. This was taken behind our subdivision. It's a favorite spot for my youngest son (in this image) to make movies with his buddies. It's also a great place to watch the end of day.

forest stairs

Back to Mattheissen Park for this image. It is a long way donw, but then you can explore the dells, waterfalls and winding paths. I love taking walks with my family here.

river clouds

It wasn't exactly a good day for riding, but for a Spring that just can't seem to find the Midwest, it wasn't so bad. This was taken on the Illinois River Bridge @ Morris.

winter’s way is passing

Winter Barns

winter’s way is passing

empty barns stand sure

quiet stories ‘neath the trees

whispered tales

forgotten days

beneath the cold

faith will grow

faith must grow

Winter Barns

winter’s way is passing

come and grow with me

time is sliding past our door

tears are melting

restored are dreams

beneath the cold

hope will grow

hope must grow

     winter’s way is passing

     come and sing with me

     fill the days with melody

     i’m yours alone

Winter Barns

Winter Barns

our hearts are one

beneath the cold

love will grow

love must grow

River Sunrise

It is currently 18 degrees Fahrenheit... seems like Winter just won't leave town. I am eager to get out on my bicycle and go riding to this park along the Illinois River and enjoy warm quiet mornings in the country. If you have our Spring, you can return it... no questions asked. Thank you.

Bridge and Stairs

As promised, here is a wide shot of the steps that I perviously posted. We live in the plains of the midwest, s this park is fun to go to because it's streams, waterfalls, trees and canyons offer a welcome contrasts to the endless miles of corn and soybean fields - which also have their own beauty... just lots of it!
