I married Ruth, my high school sweetheart, in 1983 and we have four children and 6 grandchildren. I have been the worship pastor at Mission Bible Church since 2004. We are located in Minooka, a southwest suburb of Chicago. I love singing, bicycling, music, Mahler, boxing, coffee, movies, The Beatles, sunsets, coffee, Mahler, the seashore, sunsets at the seashore, coffee, and… the seashore. Originally from New York, I grew up 15 minutes from the beautiful beaches of southern Long Island. I have a Fujifilm X-T5 that I use to capture the world I see. Snow Canyon State Park, in Ivins, Utah, was our favorite stop during our recent road trip out west. A bicycle/walking/hiking friendly park with lots of trails and amazing scenery, this park is a must see if you are ever in Utah.

there’s a person there!

I was just minding my own business… enjoying a hike in Joshua Tree National Park… taking in the view… taking this photo… when I noticed a PERSON STANDING on top of the middle outcropping of rocks on the left side of the image!  (Click on the image for a larger view.) So crazy and, so cool!

cholla cactus garden

When we arrived at this cactus garden in Joshua Tree National Park – and now I am dating myself a bit – I could not help but think of that old, campy science fiction movie: Day of the Triffids. Anyway, this was a fascinating garden to visit and, it would be wonderful to return when these are in bloom… that movie used to scare me!

it is so indescribably grand

Who would have thought that a big hole in the ground – albeit a REALLY BIG HOLE – would be so captivating and awe inspiring! My wife and I are on a road trip to California from Phoenix and we stopped to see the Grandest of Canyons. The picture below is me not doing what that guy is doing!!!
