happy thanksgiving

happy thanksgiving

Be grateful. You’ll feel much better. I promise.

a small world

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner with some dear friends, and afterwards we were taken to the basement of their beautiful home where we visited a fantastic, gigantic, wonderful small world…

son dad and son

That’s my oldest and his son. So, this is a father capturing a picture of a father’s joy in his son, taken by the father of that father, while taking joy in his son’s joy of his son… life and love… so grateful…

somewhere in chicago

Somewhere in Chicago, if you look up, I am confident that you will see something like this…. just not quite sure where…. exactly…..

all aboard

all aboard

The second of three posts from the city of Chicago. Chicago winters are harsh, so I am not quite sure why this is an open air station. Perhaps it was a cost decision, or, the we-can-take-whatever-winter-decides-to-dish-out Chicago-attitude. I have a feeling that it’s option “b.”

welcome to lasalle street

welcome to lasalle street

We have lived in the Midwest for about 26 years now, so Chicago is getting really close to becoming – dare this native New Yorker say it? – my home town! I mean no disrespect New York, and you will always be king of the hill, A-number one, top of the heap…. but Chicago has kind of crept into my heart. There….. I said it.

good day sunshine

good day sunshine

My impression of what I saw on a crisp, bright, beautiful, Autumn day.

I need to laugh, and when the sun is out
I’ve got something I can laugh about
I feel good, in a special way
I’m in love and it’s a sunny day  —  The Beatles

We live near a forest of these gigantic wind turbines. I find them fascinating…

church of the nativity 4

One last image of the Church of the Nativity. This is a wider shot of the Church of St. Catherine (Roman Catholic), which is a part of the traditional site where Christ was born. One of the most amazing aspects of my trip to the Holy Land was the opportunity to visit so many beautiful cathedrals and churches.
