I married Ruth, my high school sweetheart, in 1983 and we have four children and 6 grandchildren. I have been the worship pastor at Mission Bible Church since 2004. We are located in Minooka, a southwest suburb of Chicago. I love singing, bicycling, music, Mahler, boxing, coffee, movies, The Beatles, sunsets, coffee, Mahler, the seashore, sunsets at the seashore, coffee, and… the seashore. Originally from New York, I grew up 15 minutes from the beautiful beaches of southern Long Island. I have a Fujifilm X-T5 that I use to capture the world I see. The Chicago Field Museum is worth visiting for its exhibits and opportunities for learning, as well as for the grandeur of its architecture and the sheer size of the building.

My colleaugues and I went to Chicago last week to celebrate the birthday of our lead pastor. We spent some time at the Field Museum and then went to Daley Plaza to enjoy Christkindlmarket Chicago. Took lots of shots and I will be posting a few of them here over the next week or so. Hope you enjoy.

Spent some time in Chicago this past Wednesday with my colleagues and ran across this in the lobby of a building. I wish I took more time to take photos of this because the reflective surfaces would be fun to work with.
jones beach 2 or down to the sea
In complete defiance of the Midwest winter that cannot be stopped, here is a moment taken at Jones Beach. Here is a little bit of what I remember about my favorite place…

Well…. since winter has made a grand entrance into the Chicago area, sending temperatures deep into chilly territory (a low of 10 degrees Fahrenheit tonight and a high of 19 degrees Fahrenheit tomorrow), I thought I would post a couple of images from back home. This is a parking spot for bikes at Jones Beach, on Long Island. I grew up about 15 minutes from the beaches along the southern shore of Long Island, and I miss them very much. New York has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world (not that I have sampled many shores around this world… that being said, I am totally biased, and, right!). Anytime I am in NY, whatever the season, I take time to head for the beach and enjoy…. salty air, the constant white noise of the waves, the vast ocean… and time visiting so many memories of family and friends along the shore…

Managed to capture a moment between our grandson and youngest daughter. Have you had the chance to observe kids with an iPad? Watching this little guy navigate his way through the iPad universe is fun. All that aside, it’s so precious watching our kids love on their nephew!
one more marseilles
One more post from my recent Marseilles trip. Between being terribly sick and the business of Thanksgiving I have not gone out on a bike ride for almost two weeks now. Feeling a bit nostalgic for a good long ride before the winter cold moves into the Chicago area.
