For most of February the temperature has been below zero. We are currently above freezing, and it looks like we will stay there for a while….say, for the rest of the year! the beautiful “off” season
I particularly love the winter shore. The lonely beach seems to have more to say during the “off” season. I enjoy the endless songs of the water as the waves crash, and the water spreads out in a desperate attempt to explore and experience more of what it’s like to be on land. The taste of cold, salty air…
towering moments
I am back in my home town on Long Island, in New York, to visit my elderly parents. If you have hiked around this blog you know that when I return to Long Island I always spend time walking along the shore at Jones Beach and capturing images of this amazing public park. the lonely bean
The pandemic has left what usually is the most crowded spot in Chicago, empty and a bit sad. There was a small crowd gathered with appropriate social distancing so that The Bean can remain COVID free. So far, it’s working.

I’m catching up with a bunch of images that I have taken over the last month. December 19 was a beautiful day, so I took the Yamaha out and enjoyed a ride.
dwight correctional center
On a recent motorcycle ride I went past this property, and because I love old, abandoned structures, it caught my eye, and I decided that I was going to return, so, I did. This was the Dwight Correctional Center, located just west of Dwight, Illinois. It was the state’s only Level One maximum-security adult female facility. It was opened in 1930 and closed in 2013. The buildings are beautiful, in a sad way, and I will return to further explore this 160 acre location.

Spent a beautiful afternoon in South Haven, Michigan. The day was gorgeous, and very windy. For the para surfers: a perfect day!
tracer meets mississippi
Spent the day riding to Savannah, Illinois, located along the mighty Mississippi River. It was an absolutely beautiful day, and the photographer in me wanted to stop every 5 minutes as the beautiful, gentle rolling hills of this region of Illinois guided me to the river. I resisted, otherwise I would still be on the motorcycle! Thanks for stopping by.
