church of the nativity 3

crucifix detail

This is a detail from a crucifix located beneath the Church of the Nativity, Bethlehem. The site is the traditional location of the birth of Jesus.

I have been sorting through what seems like an endless digital pile of photos, keeping those that I want to work on, and deleting those that remind me how valuable my day job is. I ran across some that I liked from my trip to Israel a few years ago. This is the first of a few posts from The Church of the Nativity, in Bethlehem.

I can’t look at an abandoned building without thinking about people. A team of masons helped construct this building. Electricians and carpenters also had a hand in construction. Men and women with families built this and, later, worked here. Still looking for a way inside… stay tuned…

This was seen in Logan’s Square, Chicago. This will be my last post for the next week or so. I am out of town with my bride to a worship conference. Have a great week everyone!!

Jerusalem

From a trip to the Holy Land a few years ago. The Church of All Nations can be seen in the center left of the image. Also known as the Church or Basilica of the Agony, it is a Roman Catholic church located on the Mount of Olives next to the Garden of Gethsemane.

I enjoyed taking a 2.5 mile walk on my recent trip to St. Lucia, mostly because it was much easier than taking the 2.5 mile run! The volcanic island of Saint Lucia is more mountainous than many other Caribbean islands, so you are almost constantly going up or down, making running a bit more challenging that running here in the plains of the Mid West.

I guess you can say that I have grown fond of this building. I have taken a few shots of it in the dead of winter, but this is what it looks like in the summer. (Still trying to find a way in to take some interior pictures. Shhhhh….)    🙂
