May you and yours know life and hope…

7 trombones

7-trombones

“Seventy-six trombones led the big parade.”

Well, not quite 76, but I am sure that old Harold Hill would have been really pleased to see the seven trombone players pictured here marching in our county’s annual Corn Festival Parade.

This is the final post from the opening night of our local high school’s marching band/football season.

light in the darkness

The biggest take away from my trip to Haiti was the reality that light shines amidst the darkness. We met missionaries, pastors, entrepreneurs and nuns that are bringing hope, practical help and light to Haiti.

The second image from my meanderings along the banks of the Illinois River. This is a favorite spot…if you have been hanging around my blog for a while you will probably recognize it. Have a great week!

two sides of the same college

Recently I chaperoned a group of amazingly talented high school students to a Chamber Choir Festival held at Augustana College, Rock Island, IL.  These two images are of “Old Main”, constructed from 1884-1893. It is a magnificent structure, standing proudly as the architectural and historic heart and soul of the college. It was just the beginning of the colors of autumn, so next year I will need to return a bit later to see this beautiful campus show off its colors.

Take a hike along the I&M Canal, turn left at the train trestle, hike along the tracks to the river and you will find this bridge.
