Tied Up

Tied UpFrom Jones Beach State Park, New York: this state park is part of the storied vision of the urban / suburban development of Robert Moses, President of the Long Island State Park Commission. From beaches to bridges, to parks and parkways, Robert Moses was a master builder and his work has helped define that New York Metropolitan area in terms of beauty, accessibility, traffic and urban living. This image is taken from the beautiful Jones Beach boardwalk.

Mother and Son

Mother and SonThis is my grandson, Soren, and his mom, Emily. We celebrated his first birthday and I took mucho pictures. Let’s just say that I am still a notch below novice in the great wide wonderful world of photography (my hats off to all of you who work in portrait photography) and can’t seem to capture a good portrait. We had a great time celebrating this little guy.

the Bean

The BeanCalled the Bean because of it’s shape, Cloud Gate has become the signature sculpture of Millenium Park along the lakeshore opposite the grand Chicago skyline. The bean makes an appearance in the movie Source Code. You can read about this amazing sculture here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloud_Gate

I know I am biased, but new York does have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Not that I have been to many, but enough to know that my bias is true. This was taken at Jones Beach, New York. I grew up 15 minutes from this beach on the southern shore of Long Island. I have long since tried to stop understanding it, but I know that I am never more at rest, and at peace, when I am at the shore. The ocean has a way of making you feel small, and that’s a good thing. I have many wonderful memories of family and fun at this beach, and each time I go home to NY to visit my folks I go to Jones Beach, be it Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall. I also dedicate this image to a dear friend who has taken some of the most beautiful shore pictures that I have ever seen.

I love riding my Trek bicycle to a park on the banks of the Illinois River about 10 miles from my home. This was taken at that park. Trees are amazing.

Blue Ice

Blue IceThis was taken a few years ago in South Haven, MI. There is a beautiful lighthouse there and it is one of my favorite places to go.
