jones beach water tower 4

Jones Beach Water Tower4

Well, my last trip home to New York has resulted in a series of images of this water tower, and the beach. I have a couple more of the shore to post, but for now, the water tower wins the draw. My parents still live in the house I grew up in, so going home is always a wonderful experience. Jones Beach State Park is a big part of my growing up years, and, I will never tire of the shore and this cool structure. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

killing icicles

killing icicles

Took my son and his buddies to a local state park last week and did what any other teenage boy would do: tried to destroy as many icicles as possible by throwing rocks at them. I mean, this just makes sense…..surprised it’s not an Olympic event….just sayin’…..

Back to Jones Beach State Park for this capture. Have a wonderful weekend!

the lamp said to the tree

I wonder what the tree did say to the light… any thoughts?

Another shot of this pretty cool piece of architecture located at Jones Beach State Park on the southern shores of Long Island.

I think I just created a new word! Taken at the Illinois River in Morris. I changed the background so you can see the entire image. Hope you have a great week!

bridge stairs

bridge stairs

I enjoy taking a hike to this bridge over the Illinois River. You walk along the tracks that slice between corn fields, trees, and high voltage towers. Shhhhh… don’t tell anyone, but my goal is to climb those stairs…… shhhhh…..

old barn

old barn

Located on the I & M Canal  at 5 Mile Bridge, I have been told that this barn dates back to the construction of the canal in the 1800’s. The barn has many stories, sits as a lonely reminder of a forgotten time, and, as seasons change, it seems to get dressed in whatever the weather brings out, and always looks fine.

abandoned

i suppose
it was all in my head
but then again
isn’t it always
assumptions
take root
and a heart soars
it was a
rough landing
never saw it coming
can’t we…
     …just wait…
          …please…
               …abandoned…

9 11 memorial at eisenhower park

9 11 memorial at eisenhower park

On my recent trip to Long Island I went to Eisenhower Park and had fun remembering being a kid in this beautiful place. The park features a somber memorial to 9/11. On September 9, 2007, Nassau County unveiled the 9/11 Memorial honoring the 344 Nassau County residents who lost their lives during the September 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center. The monument is one of the largest completed memorials to the victims of the 9/11 attacks.
