every now and then a little boy walks into the room he was already here he has never left i just acknowledge his presence
he sits and listens i share memories questions doubts fears longings words of comfort and remorse
i sit and listen as he shares stories wishes sorrows giggles secrets tears attempts to speak all that was real
our meeting is as a key to a lock slowly arranging tumblers a click or two closer to opening a box filled with light opening a chamber of forgiveness opening a door that has been tightly shut for too long diminishing the shadows and obscurity of what it means to be
sometimes we just gaze into each other and see our soul our converging wanderings and there is calm peace between us inside us not because all the mysteries were explained more because across our times we met found solace and remembered who we are who we are not what to grasp and what to set free
As promised, here is a very special and delightful football fan from last Friday’s season opener. She totally has the cute market cornered and made my night!
We are having a very cold and snowy winter in the Midwest, but my youngest son and I went out for a winter expedition after the snow storm, and, before the temperatures plummeted – it is now -15 Fahrenheit. It was absolutely beautiful.
Before we leave the historic Plaza Colon, we will take some time to enjoy this young lady having fun with some other guests of the plaza. Don’t worry, we’ll be paying some more visits to Puerto Rico!
I hope you will allow a little grand-parenthood indulgence…. Soren is our first grandchild, and, I highly recommend the great wide wonderful world of grandchildren. I only knew my father’s mom: a gentle, loving soul, so, for me, it’s an extra special joy to be able to make memories and share life with this little guy. And, of course, that’s my beautiful bride with Soren. Thank you for letting me indulge.
Don’t you love that moment in time when you make a connection… they are usually wordless moments… eyes connect, hearts are entwined, there is a depth of understanding, and – even if it’s just for a single moment – everything is all right…
