Enjoying an unusually mild February and some beautiful skies. Thanks for stopping by.

A peaceful start to the day over the Illinois River.

Here in the Midwest we ended 2023 with an unusually warm November and December. 2024 brought us an unusually cold winter. We experienced over a week of temperatures well below freezing. Cloudy, gray skies have also been a feature for far too many days. So, even thought this morning it was -1 degrees Fahrenheit, I was looking forward to trying to capture a sunrise at the Illinois River. Low clouds on the horizon blocked the sun, but I was more intrigued by the ice formations left on the trees from the receding winter river. Thanks for stopping buy. Hope it’s warmer where you are.

your grandchild’s giggle
a warm smile from a stranger
an embrace from the one you love
you just want some things to last

a walk beside the sea
the scent of falling leaves
a comforting glance for your sorrow
you just want some things
not to go too fast

a melody that makes you cry
someone saying i forgive you
sweet vienna fingers with some coffee
you just want some things
to not slip into the past

a frigid cold morning sky
whose design and colors
takes your breath away
couldn't think of a better way
to start and end a day
than losing myself in the beauty
swimming in the artistry
trying to take the whole sky in my arms
you just want some things to stay
you want some things
to never go away
coffee
vienna fingers
embracing the whole sky
i just want some things
to
stay
maybe never have to say
goodbye

a misty morning a cup of joe a reader's digest prayer i gotta go still doing ...something still going ...somewhere all this thinking has got me ...swirling ...sinking ...unfurled before unexamined winds wait

i tell myself to take it slow to ponder to wonder do i know who i am am i present in this moment i'll choose being let the doing go and remember to stay in in the midst of a misty morning and just

listen to the music of the stillness i'll sing along a wordless song entering this eternal moment letting go of shadows as the light rises in my soul

who knows where this moment will lead if i listen and trust if i surrender all that i think i must do and live in the light and stay right here then maybe i'll be free from the shadows of doing and going i want to meet my true self and just be me

it's not that the light has surrendered or darkness has won it's not that the day is done or the night has begun it's the rhythm of all things the spinning and turning the inhaling and exhaling the rising and setting it's the beauty that accompanies all that is held together the colors that connect your soul to the Artist of infinite insight to the Artist who created colors colors so exquisitely subtle shades and hues as countless as the sand on the shore it's the clouds and their random patterns their playful textures it's the breathless moment when our eyes are transfixed when we are able to analyze and explain and yet have no understanding when our minds our hearts finally see something greater we intuit the real and that place of longing awakens for love that lasts for peace that endures for hope fulfilled for faith that comforts let's chase Light embrace the colors take the long narrow way of other-centered living and loving and seek the Artist of our souls

Enjoyed an exhilarating, if not a bit chilly, ride on a beautiful December day! Thanks for stopping by.
