I married Ruth, my high school sweetheart, in 1983 and we have four children and 6 grandchildren. I have been the worship pastor at Mission Bible Church since 2004. We are located in Minooka, a southwest suburb of Chicago. I love singing, bicycling, music, Mahler, boxing, coffee, movies, The Beatles, sunsets, coffee, Mahler, the seashore, sunsets at the seashore, coffee, and… the seashore. Originally from New York, I grew up 15 minutes from the beautiful beaches of southern Long Island. I have a Fujifilm X-T5 that I use to capture the world I see. A colorful shore for this post. It’s hard to put into words how much I miss the shore and, how peaceful it is for me to be there. Looking forward to my next visit.

We are all on a journey… we are all followers… we give our allegiance and attention to that which we understand will bring us redemption, or, some kind of relief from the darkness in this world and the darkness that lies within. The second in a series of photographs from my recent trip back to New York. I drove home to Illinois yesterday with memories of wonderful moments with my  mom and dad, family, and, of course, the shore.

In case you missed my last post, I am in New York due to my dad’s recent open heart surgery. We brought him home today and he is doing remarkably well. A trip to New York always affords me a chance to go to the beach and enjoy a walk along the shore. This is the first of a few photos from Jones Beach, NY.

Sorry for the silent blog 🙂 Life has been busier than the usual crazy and, my dad recently had double bypass surgery. So, two days ago, I took a road trip back home to be with my parents. He is doing quite well and will be home tomorrow. In the meantime, hope you enjoy one of my favorite bridges in New York.

I was going through some images from our trip out west last Fall and, thought I would share these taken at Joshua Tree National Park. 

We entered the park just east of Indio, CA, on the south side. Honestly, my first impression could be summed up like this, “So….. why is this a national park?”

After a short time, I changed my mind. The splendor and beauty of the stark, rugged, “not-of-this-planet” terrain became apparent, and, I was amazed at the minimalist, harsh, glory all around me.
