lifeguards

lifeguards

Another post from my recent trip to New York. Spent a wonderful, wintry afternoon at Jones Beach. Could not find a lifeguard anywhere, so I went to this lifeguard station to see if any would show up. None did.

my mom

The back story of this photograph: this is my dear mom at her brother’s grave site. He was such a wonderful uncle to me. My mom is the youngest of nine. She has one sister still living. It’s sad for me to see her family and generation pass.

Another favorite spot along the I & M Canal. This beautiful barn looks great all year long.

The second of three images from a favorite location of mine. The “snow disks” from the previous post are at the bottom right corner, just out of the frame of this picture. This is the locktender’s house at the Aux Sable Access along the Illinois and Michigan Canal.

ice pies?

Not quite sure what else to call those ice disks. This is the first of three images taken at the Aux Sable access on the historic I&M Canal. The Illinois Michigan Canal is a 96 mile canal that connects the Great Lakes to the Mississippi River and the Gulf of Mexico. This is the first of three images taken at the locks at Aux Sable.

what are you lookin’ at?

A pair of… uhmmm… – they look like slender Wall-E’s to me – at Devil’s Lake, Wisconsin.

I am in a New York state of mind these days. My elderly parents still live in the house I grew up in and I am looking forward to spending some time with them in a couple of weeks, so, I found this image taken last spring when I was with them. The seashore is my favorite place to be, and, in my humble opinion, it doesn’t get any better than the southern shores of Long Island. Can’t wait to see you mom and dad.

If Mordor experienced winter, I think it would look like this. This is the first of two images that, for me, capture the bleak and not so bleak beauty of winter.

Taken just before I was able to break free from the tractor beam!

These four gents are the best ride at the Magic Kingdom! We were there last November and their musicianship, quick, hilarious wit, and ability to connect with the audience was the best ride all day!
