I know, back to the shore! Sorry… it is home, memories, peace, serenity and sentimental nostalgia. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Thanks for stopping by.

lifeguards

lifeguards

Another post from my recent trip to New York. Spent a wonderful, wintry afternoon at Jones Beach. Could not find a lifeguard anywhere, so I went to this lifeguard station to see if any would show up. None did.

my mom

my mom

The back story of this photograph: this is my dear mom at her brother’s grave site. He was such a wonderful uncle to me. My mom is the youngest of nine. She has one sister still living. It’s sad for me to see her family and generation pass.

Another favoriteΒ spot along the I & M Canal. This beautiful barn looksΒ great all year long.

I am in a New York state of mind these days. My elderly parents still live in the house I grew up in and I am looking forward to spending some time with them in a couple of weeks, so, I found this image taken last spring when I was with them. The seashore is my favorite place to be, and, in my humble opinion, it doesn’t get any better than the southern shores of Long Island. Can’t wait to see you mom and dad.

january river

january river

I have been enjoying the relatively warmer weather for January in the Chicago area (34 degrees is like a heat wave!) by taking some bike rides along the Illinois River. After being rather inactive, I am looking forward to some more exerciseΒ and rackingΒ up the miles!

The Snow Rider rides again!

snow trek

The weather got a bit warmer and I got tired of nursing an achy knee…. so….

…the Snow Rider once again rode along the river…

bridge and light

bridge and light

One of my favorite spots to photograph along the Illinois River. Must have been in a somber mood when I worked on this image πŸ™‚

bridge and sun

bridge and sun

This is the final image from a hike that I took earlier this Fall. You can see this bridge at the end of the tracks in this post. It’s a relatively short hike and a fun spot to explore. Just can’t figure out – yet – how to get to the top of that bridge. Shhhhh….. πŸ™‚
