and so the day ends

A summer memory from my time in NY back in July.

trek jones beach

Back to Jones Beach for this post. While home this summer I did something that I don’t remember doing while growing up on Long Island: I rode my bicycle along the Wantagh State Parkway to Jones Beach. You can read about the bike path here. It is full of bikers, runners, people on roller blades and walkers. I rode from East Meadow to Seaford where the path begins in Cedar Creek Park. I loved these early morning rides and enjoying a quiet, almost deserted beach. I felt like I had the boardwalk all to myself. I also was able to take more photos of the Jones Beach water tower (images coming soon). Can’t wait to do it again!

So grateful to be back home visiting my parents in New York. Here is Jones Beach on a beautiful evening….

beneath the winter sun

beneath the winter sun

The title sounds like the beginning of a nice poem, or a novel about a photographer’s adventures on the shores of a long island… but, for now, it will serve as a title. Taken on my recent trip to Jones Beach. Thanks for stopping by.

Bethpage is a town on Long Island, and apparently, this amazing sand sculpture as well! I do believe that the dragon in this sculpture is called Lignum, who can be seen flying around WordPress Land.  😉

One more shot from my recent trip back home to New York.

the meeting of the gulls

the meeting of the gulls

Stumbled upon this high level meeting of the gulls. Among the topics I heard discussed: the problem of high property taxes; the awful smell of sun tan lotion; the dreaded return of sea doos and boats; those darn geese think they own the beach; let’s get that idiot with the camera. That’s when I ran.
