You can read about the Illinois Waterway here. This is the lock and dam in Marseilles, IL. The recent rains that resulted in flood conditions made the river a loud, violent presence at this location.

So many French name in Illinois and Wisconsin, it makes me smile when I read them ! I thought about the French town Marseilles for a second, and thought “do they have famous lock in marseilles ?” 😀
